UNIVERSITY OF COLORADO, DENVER, 2010
The project is located in downtown Denver, Colorado, between Champa Street, the 15th Street, Curtis Street, and the 16th Street Mall. The concept of the Tree Tower roots from the character of the block: Historic, Downtown, and Theater. It respects the existing buildings in response to historic buildings and has a unique organic figure to express the innovative culture of downtown. The Theater district extends to the site on Curtis Street.
The shape of the tower's skin is a result of several studies of the sunlight on the site all day. The terracotta sun-breakers have change shapes and directions between the southwest side and the southeast side of the tower according to the sunlight during the day.
